Cockpit Table

One of the top five items that we both wanted to update was getting a nicer cockpit table. For those that may not know, the cockpit is the “open area” of the boat that is located (normally) behind the helm. [Side thought: may have to do a glossary post for those non-boat nerds (like me) out there.]

Anyway, the cockpit table installed was the classic fiberglass style. White. There it is right there. Special, no?

So we wanted something a little more nautical, and something that had a little bit of a statement to it. We spent a good amount of time looking around and trying to figure out if we should buy a ready-made table, or have one custom made.

As we researched this, we found a great site that had been recommended through the Club Sea Ray forum multiple times, called Marine Teak located in the United Kingdom. They had a great selection of tables, especially with the compass rose design on it (the compass symbol). We’d look somewhere else, and then go back to Marine Teak, and back and forth.

So after finally getting Aurelia Dawn, and realizing that it was not going to cost an arm and a leg to buy, we pulled the plug and purchased a new cockpit table, with a folding system to allow easier access to the seat on the curved part of the lounge. We love it!

Marine Teak was amazing. We placed the order on Thursday, March 5 and on the morning of Monday, March 9 it was sitting in our home. All the way from the UK!

While the table did arrive in an “install ready” state, we did put a teak sealer on it, which highlighted many of the tones of the teak and gave it this really fresh look We will most likely replace the pedestal pole (the connection between the floor and the table), but this may be a next season update. A few other things to continue to move forward with updating first.
